About
The Pre-Law Program, housed within the Office of Undergraduate Education, provides a comprehensive range of services, resources, and events designed to support Baylor students as they explore and prepare for the practice of law.
We offer a variety of programs focused on law-related topics, including two foundational courses titled Understanding the Legal Profession (STL 1102) and Undergraduate Law School Admission (STL 1101). These courses introduce students to legal careers and the law school admissions process. The Minor in Legal Reasoning and Analysis provides rigorous academic preparation for the demands of law school. Students have the opportunity to participate in affiliated student organizations that foster a sense of community and develop leadership skills.
The mission of Baylor’s Pre-Law Program is to help students from all majors make informed decisions about their preparation for law school and the practice of law.
The Pre-Law Program follows the professional and conceptual best practices in pre-law advising. We are proudly affiliated with the Pre-Law Advisors National Council (PLANC) and support their vision to foster "an informed, inclusive, and supportive network of college and university pre-law advisors while promoting collaboration, ideation, and best practices across regional associations."
The Pre-Law Program has a rich tradition of preparing students for law school and careers that make a difference in the world. Through individualized advising, rigorous academic opportunities, and meaningful co-curricular engagement, the program empowers students to pursue law with clarity and purpose.
Our alumni reflect this legacy of excellence. Graduates of the program have gone on to attend top-ranked law schools such as Yale, Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, Cornell, the University of Chicago, and UC Berkeley. They now serve in diverse roles across the legal profession, including civil rights advocacy, corporate law, public interest, and federal clerkships. Each of them contributes to Baylor’s mission of global service and leadership through the law.
