Opportunities
Baylor University offers students a wide range of opportunities to build experience, strengthen skills, and connect with the legal community. These activities complement your coursework and advising, helping you grow as a leader, develop professional judgment, and position yourself as a strong candidate for law school.
The sections below highlight opportunities for involvement through advocacy teams, scholarships, student organizations, and the Undergraduate Law Review.
Students can sharpen their communication, critical thinking, and persuasive skills by participating in advocacy competitions. Moot Court and Mock Trial teams offer rigorous training in argumentation, public speaking, and teamwork while providing a taste of real-world legal practice.
Participation builds confidence and strengthens your law school application, and many teams compete at the regional and national level.
The Pre-Law Program offers financial support to help students pursue their law school goals. These include both need-based and merit-based scholarships, as well as funding that offsets law school application costs.
Current Pre-Law Program scholarships include:
Pre-Law Excellence Scholarship (awarded annually to outstanding Pre-Law students)
Baylor University Law School Application Subsidy (provides direct payment to LSAC for application-related fees)
Additional scholarship opportunities are available through Baylor University, national pre-law organizations, and external foundations.
Joining a pre-law student organization is one of the best ways to build community and grow your leadership skills. The Pre-Law Society, Pre-Law Neighborhood, and related groups bring together students who share a commitment to the study and practice of law.
These organizations host events, invite guest speakers, and connect students with peers, alumni, and legal professionals. They also provide opportunities to develop teamwork, event planning, and organizational leadership experience. Information about student organizations and how to join is available on Baylor Connect.
The Undergraduate Law Review offers students the chance to engage in legal scholarship, research, and writing. Participants work collaboratively to publish original student work and provide editorial feedback, gaining valuable experience in critical analysis and legal writing. Membership demonstrates initiative and intellectual curiosity, qualities that stand out in law school applications.
